Living in the moment is easier said than done. Many of us rush through life, caught in a cycle of planning, worrying, and forcing outcomes. Yet, true peace and fulfillment comes from simply living, breathing, and being—without pressure or pretense. Embracing the present moment helps us all transform our experiences in life, slowing down and connecting with what truly matters.

Why Living in the Present Matters

Our minds often drift to the past or future, replaying memories or worrying about what’s next. This habit pulls us away from the only time we truly have: now. When we live in the present, we:

  • Reduce stress by letting go of worries about what might happen. For our family, July 20th was supposed to be the original date our visa/passports were to come in; however, we're now 11.5 weeks into the process and still waiting for them to arrive so we can make the next steps towards our new adventure and life in Italy. It's called grace; take nothing, nobody, and no time for granted as everything works out the way it's supposed to. We are called to wait patiently, and even though school begins next week for our children there is no way we can force this process to move faster so we might as well find gratitude in the simple yet meaningful moments before we embark on this next chapter to living abroad.

  • Improve focus by paying attention to one thing at a time. I have found my mind is very active and I can multitask very well; however, in this season of grace as we wait for our visas/passports to arrive, I just want to give my attention to the one thing I am working on or the people I am currently with in that moment.

  • Enhance relationships by fully engaging with others. I'm learning no matter how hard we try to shoot for the perfect scenario, perfect timing, perfect alignment... Life is going to work its way out towards the perfect timing for everything. I like the saying "Don't try and fit the square peg in the round hole; rather, live in purpose, on purpose, and for purpose knowing everything will work out the way it's supposed to."

  • Increase happiness by appreciating the simple yet meaningful moments. I have found that this big, bold, and exciting move for my family has truly given me great joy. Unknown joy, as I can only creatively imagine what life will look like as we manifest it, with our goals, dreams, hopes, and desires that can ultimately lead us to endless possibilities. I am truly excited to see what life has in store for us and what doors will open up for our family living in Sicily.

Living authentically means accepting yourself as you are, without forcing yourself to fit expectations or rush through life. It's mind blowing to me that I will be turning 44 by the end of this year; there's power in the pause. I have found myself reflecting on how fast 21 years of living and building a life together with Jeremiah in Seattle has truly gone by so fast. I can tell you for certain there have been moments where I've felt concerned about getting the kids to Sicily before they start their new school, but then I rein myself back in and say none of these past two weeks' experiences would've happened in our life and memory bank if we were already in Sicily. I trust that these extra moments shared are to bring a deal of comfort while we're in transition. The warmth, the love, and the connection we've had and the bonus moments will be etched in stone. We are cherishing time differently these days, but I appreciate the heightened awareness that's been given to us by not having everything go as planned and a smoothly as we thought. Are you with me on that? Is there something that you can pause and reflect about in your own personal life that has taught you to find the silver lining. I am someone whom likes to always find a solution to a problem, to reframe the mindset to look for the positive and good in every situation. So this extra time is truly a bonus. I want you to pause and reflect to find the good as well.

Practice Mindful Breathing.

Live Mindfully and Authentically

Breathing is the simplest way to anchor yourself in the present. I learned four years ago, when I began my journey into learning Natural Beaded Row extensions, how to slow down, journal, breathe, and meditate. Who knew an advanced course in designing hair would also teach me such a foundational personal development skill with my health, wellness, and vitality that I didn't know I needed? I'm grateful these core principles became a part of my daily routine and structure for living. It brings me great JOY as we move into this next chapter knowing that I can rely on my strengths, my passions, and the things that have helped transform my life, as the goal is to always evolve, grow, and prosper.

If you're with me for the long haul in this journey with the HannaCruz family moving to Italy, you will find I just want to inspire you to leap just beyond your comfort zone as this is truly where growth begins; I want to see you RISE and SHINE. My goal with sharing our lived life experience is to empower you, inspire you, and equip you all—my family, friends, and community to strench yourself so you can: grow, blossom and prosper.

So the next time you feel pressure in your life, or a season where you're trying to fit the square peg in the round hole, or an expectation in a timeline that is taking longer than expected, please pause and try this:

  • Sit comfortably and close your eyes. Give yourself permission to realize nobody is you; and that's your power. Your lived life experience matters, your thought process, and your mental state are all being crafted by the time, energy, thought process, rest, and rejuvenation you give it. So please treat yourself with the highest regards ALWAYS and take the time to be fully present so you can become the best version of you.

  • Take slow, deep breaths, noticing the air entering and leaving your body. We need oxygen to stimulate our brain, so deep breathing is necessary. The way you think, the way you talk, and the lens you look through in life often dictates the way you manifest and curate your dreams to reality. So, my hope and prayer is that you think boldly, bravely, courageously, and fill your life up with lots of love and positivity.

  • When and if your mind wanders, gently bring your focus back to your breath. Breathing deep cleansing breaths will clear the pathway to any chakras that may be blocked.

Even a few minutes can calm your mind and reconnect you with the moment.

People who live mindfully and authentically often report:

  • Greater peace of mind

  • Stronger connections with others

  • Improved physical health through reduced stress

  • More joy in everyday experiences

These benefits come from simply allowing life to be as it is, without forcing or resisting. So as we patiently wait for our visas/passports to arrive for our BIG and BOLD move to Italy, I am with you in real time, focusing on the present moment, taking nobody and nothing for granted, as LIFE itself is the greatest gift. May we all continue to be fully present in it.

Much love everyone as you begin to honor your time as a truly precious gift. No replays, no rewinds, only this moment in time.
